Introductions done, going to get on with the purpose of this blog.

Last week I was away on holiday, only Isle of Wight, but gave me quite alot of ideas.. and it is actually quite a beautiful place. Anyway, gave me looooads of ideas for things. Visited lots of art galleries, but I wouldn't class it as "art", all people draw on that island is pictures of landscape. Once you've seen 5 paintings, you've seen them all. It might just be me, but art is something that you interpret something from and actually has some meaning, not just what you see from your window.

Amongst the gallery visits, beach and arguments, i managed to get some sketches down for my portfolio. Gone with a blue colour scheme, inspired by the sea of course. Don't think they're the best ever and got slightly ruined in my suitcase coming home. But nevertheless, you can see the basic design, the models are still faceless and look like ghosts, but I lost my watercolours to can't finish them just yet... so professional. They're abit plain looking aswell, haven't got round to writing the notes on them just yet either..

They're all pretty random designs, but I had "Casual evening" in mind with them all. Ones a more ballerina-esque dress, anothers a kimono bubble dress, then the black design in the centre, is the worst I think, it was meant to be a coat..

Back at home, and back with my lovely sewing machine and Betty, I made a dress with some red stripey fabric I got whilst on holiday, in this amazing little shop.
First attempt at sleeves, think it went quite well :)
Been wearing it constantly since I wore it, so I think it was successful

Nautical stripes + ruffles + short sleeves = win.

(sorry for the awful photography)X
